Of course there are exceptions. First, remember the spelling rules.

If the base part of the adjective ends on К, Г, Х, Ч, Ж, Ш and Щ never use Ы. Use -И instead.

If the adjective ends on a soft consonant use the rules in the following table.

Again, remember the spelling rules.

Never use Ю or Я behind Ч, Ж, Ш and Щ. Use -Y or -A instead.

Also, if the accent is on the last syllable, never use -E. Use -O instead.

If the base part of the verb ends on Ч, Ж, Ш and Щ, use declination for soft consonant, unless the accent is on the last syllable.
